I have always loved rummaging around in shops full of old junk and curios so when I came across a shop named ‘Stuff’, it was heaven.  Although my house is already crammed with books and curios, it only took a few minutes and 2 medieval stained glasses, 5 painted wood panels and a bunch of old documents later I was happy.

In the bundle of documents is an indenture dated 23 May 1732 written on parchment with its original stamps and wax seals still in place (see, how could I resist?).  It is between the fabulously named Measures Lumley, Ann his wife, and William Blower and concerns a land sale in Frisby upon the Wreake, Leicestershire.

The writing is beautiful and easy to read but sadly the parchment is showing its age and has some holes in it, especially along the creases.  A look into Measures shows he married an Anne Blower on 31 October 1706 at Great Dalby, Leicestershire so Anne and William are probably related.
